Liverpool Ask Premier League To Review VAR Decisions Following Draw

Oct 18, 2020 1:20 AM

Liverpool have asked the Premier League to review its VAR decisions following the side's 2-2 draw against Everton.

The two decisions in question were a failed red card review for Jordan Pickford's challenge on Virgil van Dijk, and calling back Jordan Henderson's match-winning goal in stoppage time due to an offsides on Sadio Mane.

“I am a real supporter of VAR but in the one picture I saw there is no offside. Since then I have had 10 interviews and everyone tells me it was not offside and that doesn’t lift my mood.

"We lost one player in a situation where VAR was not involved with Virgil and maybe another one in the red card situation and scored a legitimate goal which didn’t count. It was not our day but the performance was the performance I wanted to see," said Jurgen Klopp after the game.

Carlo Ancelotti defended Pickford's performance.

“He played a good game, like the other players. He made good saves, he was focused and it was a good performance. Unfortunately Van Dijk got injured. I hope that he can recover well and soon.”

Sergino Dest Becomes First American To Play For Barcelona

Oct 4, 2020 8:47 PM

Sergino Dest made his Barcelona debut in a 1-1 draw against Sevilla.

The 19-year-old Dest is the first American to play for the Barcelona senior team.

"We knew this would be a really difficult game and so it proved, Sevilla are an excellent team and they played very well, they flooded the midfield and we struggled to cope with that but at least we earned a point," said Coutinho.

Dest signed with Barcelona from Ajax last week for €21 million.

Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool 'Lost The Plot' In 7-2 Loss

Oct 4, 2020 8:29 PM

Jurgen Klopp blamed Liverpool's 7-2 loss to Aston Villa to their failure to react after giving up the opening goal.

"All their good moments lead to a big chance or goals, and that makes all the difference. All the things you should not do in a football match we did tonight, but all credit to Aston Vila, as they forced us to do those things.

"The first goal had an impact but it shouldn't. We conceded goals like that in the past, but the reaction wasn't good, and we lost the plot," said Klopp.

Villa's opening goal came off a mistake from Adrian.

Klopp added that he's disappointed to not be able to work with the squad in training, with international matches coming up this week.

"Tonight wasn't sloppy, it was just bad. I have to admit that but I can't change it. I would love to have a training session tomorrow and Tuesday and to talk about it, but the boys go back off to international duty. Hopefully they come back healthy and we use the two days to prepare for Everton."
